Diwali is the festival of lights celebrated to mark the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. The five-day festival is celebrated with complete zeal and zest in the Autumn season which usually falls between mid-October and mid-November. The festival sprawls over five days and is characterized by lighting up the homes and wearing traditional clothes. Fireworks and crackers are an important aspect of Diwali but these do not sit well with the animals who cannot handle the noise. There has been a campaign against firecrackers because these add to air pollution. Hence many celebrities come forward urging their followers to have noise and smoke-free Diwali.
