Ananya Panday Comments on Nepotism and Siddhant Chaturvedi Rightly Responds
Ananya Panday shared her two cents on nepotism however, Gully Boy star Siddhant Chaturvedi was quick to shut her down
Bollywood is not alien to the concept on nepotism. The term has been relevant to the industry for decades but only made its way to the world of today after it was introduced by filmmaker Karan Johar a few years ago on his show, Koffee with Karan. Throughout time, many stars such as Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor have commented on the debate since they hail from families that have been in the film business for years. One new star in this lot is Student of the Year 2 star, Ananya Panday – daughter of veteran star Chunky Panday.
In a roundtable interview with Rajeev Masand, newcomers of Bollywood spoke about their struggles and finally being able to make it big on the screen. The panel included Ananya along with Gully Boy star Siddhant Chaturvedi, Tara Sutaria and several others. On being questioned on nepotism, Ananya replied, “Everyone thinks it all glamourous and I’ve gotten everything that I ever wanted. But I am very grateful that I am my dad’s daughter and I wouldn’t want it any other way. When people hate on me for nepotism, I’m not going to shy away.”
The starlet continued, “I am so scared that people are going to say that ‘You’re taking things too lightly.” I will overcompensate then because I don’t want to take that chance. I have always wanted to be an actor and just because my father is an actor as well, I’m not going to say no to an opportunity. It isn’t as easy as people say it is. I think everyone has their own journey.” Siddhant, who was sitting right next to Ananya was quick to respond. He said, “I think everybody has their own struggle. The only difference is where our dreams start getting fulfilled, that’s where their struggle begins.” Now that’s a befitting reply.
