Amitabh Bachchan to become first Bollywood celebrity to voice Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa
The legendary actor will voice Alexa
Amazon has announced their newest voice assistant partnership with Amitabh Bachcan. The 77-year-old actor will become India’s first ever celebrity voice to feature on Alex.
Bachchan will be the first Indian celebrity to have a voice debut on Alexa, and customers all around India will be able to hear the actor’s voice on request to help with their day to day tasks.
Last September, Amazon made the decision to extend their Hindi language resources in India after the voice powered assistant made good sales in 2018. In a bid to increase India’s interest in Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa, the e-commerce giant has recruited Indian’s most famous actor, and it’s safe to say that his voice is just as recognisable as his face.
Bachchan has a distinct, baritone voice which many consider to be very calming. The veteran has done numerous voice over jobs in India, but it’s safe to say that Alexa will be his biggest one yet as the actor has to record endless words and sentences to fulfill the many functions of the gadget.
Users will be able to greet the actor with a simple “hello”, and can enjoy a selection of jokes, stores and games voiced by Bachchan.
Speaking about the partnership, the star said, “I am excited to create this voice experience in partnership with Amazon and Alexa. With voice technology, we are building something to engage more effectively with my audience and well-wishers”.
Alexa is available on Amazon Echo devices, Fire TV Stick, and many third-party phones. To learn more about what Alexa can do visit the Amazon website here.
