Amitabh Bachchan Reveals He Does Not Belong to Any Religion
Amitabh Bachchan is proud to be the first person to hold the surname ‘Bachchan’. He stated he has no shame in saying his father respected those below or above him!
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has revealed he does not belong to any religion and he identifies with his nationality – Indian. He will be seen sharing a story with sociologist Bindeshwar Pathak on the upcoming Gandhi Jayanti special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati. Big B said, "My surname 'Bachchan' does not belong to any religion as my father was against it. My surname was Srivastava but we never believed in it. I feel proud saying that I'm the first person to hold this family name. When I was taking admission to Kindergarten, my father was asked my surname and then he decided that my surname would be 'Bachchan'.”
Amitabh added, “When Census employees come to my place, they ask me about my religion and I always answer that I belong to no religion, I'm Indian." He also about his family tradition of hosting a Holi festival every year by putting colour on the feet of a person who is older and looked up to in the family or outside of it.
Talking about it, Amitabh continued, “I have no shame in saying that my father respected the people around him. It was our tradition that a person during Holi puts colour on the feet of the eldest and highly respected man. My father Harivansh Rai Bachchan used to put colours on legs of the person who cleaned toilets before starting his celebration.” On the work front, Amitabh has multiple projects in the pipeline. He will be seen in Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy drama Brahmastra alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. He will also star in Gulabo Sitabo with Ayushmann Khurrana and also has the Emraan Hashmi-starrer Chehre in his kitty. Amitabh’s Telugu film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy hit the screens on October 2 and reports of it being leaked by piracy website Tamilrockers are already making the rounds.
