You would have all seen the pictures on social media now. Shweta Bachchan has turned designer and along with good friend  Monisha Jaising, known for her luxury womenwear label, has launched MxS, a brand catering to women of all sizes and interests. The grand launch saw several A-listers including the whole of the Bachchan family in attendance. But what about this label makes it special. Here are the details…

THE LABEL

MXS. Monisha Jaising, known for her luxury womenswear label teams up with good friend and stylista Shweta Bachchan-Nanda to create a label targeting women from 18-40. Taking inspiration from street fashion, pop culture, travel and movies, the duo says the brand caters to suit women of all ages and size. Four collections every year in all sizes starting from XS going up to 2XL, will be brought out.

THE STORY BEHIND THE BRAND

At a common friend’s 50th birthday party, the theme was ‘Shimmer and Shine’. Shweta had an idea of what she wanted to wear and approached her friend Monisha to design and bring the outfit – a pair of relaxed party ready trousers with a matching oversized shirt - to reality. The fun experience they had while designing the outfit led them to ideate further and build MxS.

THE DEBUT COLLECTION

From short mini dresses to tea-length to floor skimming dress, the debut collection of MxS is a mixed back of practical yet supremely stylish ensembles. The collection is fluid: so perhaps you and your daughter can probably share outfits! Moreover, as Shweta and Monisha chorus, the label will have clothes that can be a quick fix for any occasion. So from desk to dinner, beach to wedding, gym, travel, party or club wear, you find something for everyone, in all sizes. The first collection is as preppy and playful as it is glamorous. Examples: sequin rainbow striped track-pants, statement luxe sweatshirts with the word “Airplane Mode” scrawled across the front in embroidery, and a black leather skirt with slogans all over it in graffiti art to name just a few.

WHERE TO FIND THEM

The new label will be introduced this month and will be retailed at Monisha Jaising stores in Mumbai and Delhi. An e-commerce website will be introduced later for international clients.
