This past decade has not only seen multiple Bollywood weddings, controversies or films becoming the talk of the town. It has witnessed a lot more than that! What makes up the showbiz industry? Actors, filmmakers, producers, choreographers, stylists and there is a never-ending list. But at the heart of every movie industry including Indian cinema, there is no gainsaying that actors run the show. If they perform well, their projects go on to become box office hits. But if their acting prowess falls short of audiences’ expectations, there is no going back. To sum it up, actors are the forerunners of a film industry. As we approach a new decade, there are some that made their Bollywood debut in the past 10 years and are now known as powerhouses of talent. They have made a mark for themselves and continue to thrive and work hard in the ever-competitive industry. From A-listers Alia Bhatt to Arjun Kapoor, here are the stars that forayed into films just one decade ago but it feels like a lifetime.
Alia Bhatt (2012)
Her father, Mahesh Bhatt may be an ace director and mother Soni Razdan a superstar actor but it was filmmaker Karan Johar who made her acting dream come true! Alia displayed professionalism as soon as she stepped foot into Bollywood. She took her talent up a notch with her debut film Student of the Year. Her performance in the 2012 teen drama – helmed by Karan – bagged her multiple projects in the following years, with Alia rapidly becoming the eye candy for many filmmakers. She went on to star in several films bankrolled by Karan’s banner Dharma Productions including 2 States (2014), Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017). She bagged a role with King Khan (Shah Rukh) at a very early stage in her career, with the duo sharing screen space in Dear Zindagi (2016).
In a short span of time, Alia holds a long list of achievements to her credit. She bagged awards for Highway, Raazi and Udta Punjab opposite B-town heartthrob Shahid Kapoor. Fun fact: Raazi became one one of Hindi cinema's highest grossing films with a female actor as the protagonist.

Having ventured into films with the 2012 action-romance Ishaqzaade, he appeared in several films after. His first film role gained him the Zee Cine Award for Best Male Debut. He then starred in 2 States opposite Alia and bagged a role alongside his superstar cousin Kareena Kapoor Khan in 2016’s Ki & Ka.
