Alia Bhatt is not the typical definition of a star kid. It’s not her mother Soni Razdan or her father Mahesh Bhatt’s good reputation in Bollywood that made her reach great heights. Her outstanding performance in her Indian cinematic debut ‘Student of the Year’ is proof of this. While she’s always had a strong penchant for acting, the starlet has been signing films one after another since stepping foot in showbiz.
Speaking in a recent interview with a leading publication, Alia spoke about her fan following and what it means to her. “The best way to show my love to my fans is by giving good performances,” she said.
She added, "Am I No. 1, 2 or 3? These things aren’t significant. I don’t believe in saying ‘I love you’ to my fans on Twitter. Agar picture nahi chali (If my film doesn’t do well), I will be disappointed for the audience more than myself, because I will be content with the effort I put in."
Meanwhile, Alia remains unfettered by box office numbers. What matters to her the most is giving her all to every project she takes on. When asked how a film’s success or failure affects her, Alia replied, "What’s most important to me is my work process. To go to the set, study the character, do justice to it and understand the director’s vision. I should not pay attention to what happens after that — whether the film turns out to be a success or failure. What matters the most is to be completely honest towards my work. That will ensure that my screen characters stay with people." On the work front, Alia will next be seen in Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’ opposite her real-life beau Ranbir Kapoor. The film is slated to release in the summer of 2020.
