Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan Fit the Bill as Nisha and Prem Says Madhuri Dixit for ‘Hum Aapke Hai Kaun’ Remake
It is the era of remakes and we’re not complaining!
While the remake of the films Andaz Apna Apna and Ram Lakhan are in the talks, the other remakes have been confirmed are Coolie No 1 and Pati Patni Aur Who. Do you remember the famous scene in which Salman Khan hit Madhuri Dixit with a flower in Hum Aapke Hai Koun? Unless you have been living under a rock, you must all be aware of this iconic scene from the 90s blockbuster social drama.
Speaking about remakes, Madhri Dixit who is currently busy with the promotions of her upcoming film Kalank with the entire star cast including Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, hinted in a recent interview with DNA said that Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt can easily play Prem and Nisha in the remake of Hum Aapke Hai Koun (if there were to be a remake of the classic film).
Madhuri was quizzed about her casting choice for a Hum Aapke Hai Koun remake. The Kalank actress revealed that a lot depends on the way characters are written in this hypothetical remake of the classic film. The writers play a very important role in the films and the way they pen down dialogues and scenes, determine the chemistry between the two actors. And, according to the actress anyone can play the roles if the film is well-written and well-directed.
When the Kalank actress was asked if her co-star Alia and Varun would fit the bill, Madhuri said, 'Alia and Varun can easily play those characters. Alia is a very good actress. She can get into any role and make it her own. So yeah, definitely. They'll be good.''
When Alia Bhatt came to know about Madhuri’s views, the Raazi actor said ‘‘Wow! That's a first! Call up Sooraj Barjatya [the director of Hum Aapke Hai Koun] sir, somebody. Unhi ko banaana chahiye...''
Alia further added, "I don't think anybody can be Nisha and Prem - that was too iconic a film. I feel it's too gracious and generous of ma'am (Madhuri Dixit) to say this,''
Reacting to what Madhuri said, Varun Dhawan echoed his reaction. "Oh God! I think that's too big a compliment. I am already doing one remake (Coolie No 1) right now, so one at a step”, the actor said.
He continue, "I think Hum Aapke Hain Koun is too iconic. Everyone remembers it too well. I will be scared to do that”.
Directed by Sooraj Barjatya under the banner of Rajshri Productions, Hum Aapke Hai Koun was an iconic, light, family based film. Other than Madhuri Dixit, the film had stars like Salman Khan, Renuka Shahane, Mohnish Bahl, Alok Nath, Reema Lagoo, Anupam Kher, Bindu, Satish Shah and many others in pivotal roles.
Kalank is set to release on the 17th of April and is directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar. Other than the film being a period drama set in the pre-Partition era, little is known about the exact plot as of yet, though its emotionally-powered and dramatic trailer has already set the hype train in motion.
