Ali Zafar Did Not Attend The 18th Lux Style Awards Last Night?
Ali Zafar, who has been embroiled in controversy since allegations of harassment were made against him by Meesha Shafi, was not seen at the 18th Lux Style Awards yesterday despite his nomination and subsequent win for Best Actor
The curtain closed on the 18th Lux Style Awards 2019 and it was a totally glamorous night. Among all the glitterati that were in attendance, one could not ignore the absence of singer Ali Zafar who chose not to attend the Lux Style Awards. For the past several months, Ali Zafar has been embroiled in sexual harassment allegations made against him by singer Meesha Shafi and the case is still awaiting a decision in court. Due to the allegations, multiple protests have broken out against Ali, most notably against his film Teefa in Trouble when it released in theatres and when he then received a nomination for Best Actor at the LSAs for his performance in the flick. In response to Ali’s nomination, several notable celebrities decided to boycott the Lux Style Awards to show their disapproval, including Meesha Shafi herself.
As a result, the public has been keeping a watchful eye on the awards ceremony since the controversy broke out, with many wondering what actions Ali would take in light of the issue. Ultimately, the actor did not make an appearance on the red carpet, though he did receive the award for best actor and later posted a snap of his trophy to Instagram, which was apparently picked up his co-star Maya Ali on his behalf.
It is understandable why Ali Zafar decided to now show up. Rumor has it that there were going to be additional protests if he had attended. Could it because he was afraid of the protest because earlier protests had happened in front of his film premieres too and a lot of artist did boycott the premiers per say. So could it be that the singer chose to remain AWOL from the prestigious awards night just to save face? We guess only time can tell.
