Akshay upset with comparisons to Salman
His 'Rowdy Rathore' promos have brought back memories of 'Dabangg'
At a recent event, the usually unflappable action king Akshay was taken aback when a rather unruly crowd allegedly pelted the stage with stones and began to cheer for Salman Khan! The reason being Akshay's 'Rowdy Rathore' promos reminded the hardcore Salman fans of their fave films 'Dabangg' and 'Wanted'.
It's not just fans but even critics have pointed out similarities between Akshay's latest film and Salman's hits. For one, Sonakshi Sinha yet again plays village belle to Akshay's cop character. Secondly, Salman's dialogue from Wanted: 'Ek baar jo maine commitment kar di toh main apne aap ki bhi nahin sunta' is very similar to Akshay's dialogue from Rowdy: 'Jo main bolta hoon, woh main karta huJo main nahin bolta woh main definitely karta hoon'.
When this was pointed out to Akshay recently, he said, "I thought we number horses that race against each other. It's unfair to compare actors. Salman is my friend – he does what he is good at and I am doing my job." But the crowd wasn't in the mood to listen, considering they wait eagerly for every move of Salman to hit the screens.
When asked about the Rowdy Rathore similarities producer Arbaaz Khan says, "Dabbang is a cult film I guess it will inspire others. But I only take this as a compliment."
Unfortunately, it seems Akki doesn't think similarly!
