Earlier this month, it was reported that budding star Kartik Aaryan has been roped in to star in the sequel to the Akshay Kumar-horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa. An insider revealed that the 28-year-old star would play the lead role in the reboot. “While the makers have locked the idea, the script is yet to be finalised. But the idea was shared with Kartik who liked it and has agreed to take the franchise forward with the story set in a metropolis,” said the source at the time. The reason for Akshay not taking up the project was his alleged fallout with T-series over the making of Mogul.

The actor was claimed to not work with the music and film production house anymore. However, things seem to have taken a turn and the Bollywood Khiladi is reportedly still being eyed for a special role. The follow-up film is being directed by filmmaker Sajid Samji. If new reports are to be believed, Kartik will essay the lead while Akshay will be seen in a special role to make the film all the more interesting and different from its original. Well, we expected this!

Speaking about Akshay being roped in for the second installment of Bhool Bhulaiyaa, a source close to the star revealed, “There is a conversation about Akshay coming into the project. There are genuine efforts for a patch up between him and T-Series in the offing. Bhool Bhulaiyaa was a hit when it released 12 years ago. Akshay has liked the new drift in the story which he has green lighted. An announcement on the project is in the offing.” Vidya Balan starred opposite Akshay in the 2007 film but will reportedly not be making a reappearance in the forthcoming project. Akshay is currently busy with Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi co-starring Katrina Kaif.
