Prithviraj, produced by Yash Raj Films will be directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi. Speaking to a media publication about the film, Akshay said he was honoured to play “the role of one of the most fearless and courageous kings of India,” and added, “we should always celebrate our heroes and immortalize what they did to propagate the values that Indians lived by.”
Akshay has previously starred in several biopics and was seen as Havaldaar Ishar Singh in his war film Kesari, which was based on true events revolving around the 1987 Battle of Saragarhi, during which many Sikh soldiers died fighting against Afghan troops. The actor also has several other films lined up. He is currently filming for Sooryavanshi, which co-stars Katrina Kaif and is being directed by Rohit Shetty. He is also shooting for Good News, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanj. The 52-year old’s latest release, India’s first space movie Mission Mangal, is performing remarkably well at the box office and may soon cross the 200 crore mark.
