Ajay Devgn's highly-anticipated film Maidaan is scheduled to release next year, on 27th November 2020. The Amit Ravinderntheath Sharma directorial, which also stars National Award winning actress Keerthy Suresh, is based on true events in the history of Indian football. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the film’s release date on Twitter, saying, “Release date finalized... Ajay Devgn’s next film #Maidaan - based on the sport #football - to release on 27 Nov 2020... Costars Keerthy Suresh... Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma [#BadhaaiHo]... Filming will conclude by March 2020.” He also shared the film’s poster with the tweet, which shows the globe in the form of a football and reads, “The Golden Era of Indian Football: 1951-1962.”
In this sports film — produced by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla and Arunava Joy —. Ajay essays the role of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim who led the Indian football team towards victory in the Asian games during the ‘50s and ‘60s. A massive set was constructed in Mumbai to shoot an important football sequence. Filming for Maidaan is taking place in different cities of India and is expected to conclude by March 2020. The film marks Malayalam actress Keerthy’s debut in Bollywood.
Meanwhile, Ajay — last seen in Luv Ranjan’s romantic-comedt De De Pyaar De -- will next appear in Om Raut’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, a biographical period drama film, co-starring Saif Ali Khan and Kajol. This will be Ajay’s 100th film and is slated to release in January 2020. Ajay will also be seen in Bhuj: The Pride of India, in which he is playing the role of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who was responsbile for the Bhuj airbase during the 1971 war. This war drama film has been directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya and will release in March 2020.
