Ajay Devgn’s Total Dhamaal will NOT be Released in Pakistan, Here’s WHY

Ajay Devgn took to Twitter to announce that his comedy ensemble film Total Dhamal will not be releasing in Pakistan

On February 14th, a suicide attack was carried out on CRPF personnel in Pulwama, killing forty-nine soldiers. Nationwide protests erupted and there were many calls from Bollywood A-listers to block content and boycott them in solidarity.

Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi cancelled their trip to Karachi, Pakistan, to attend a commemorative ceremony of Shabana’s late father, Kaifi Azmi. Jashn e Rekhta, an Urdu literature festival, was cancelled in Dubai in the wake of the Pulwama attacks. Navjot Singh Sidhu was also sacked from The Kapil Sharma Show for giving statements that did not sit well with many people, in the light of the attacks.

Of late, Ajay Devgn took to his twitter to announce that his upcoming film Total Dhamaal would not be releasing in Pakistan.

“In light of the current situation, the team of Total Dhamaal has decided to not release the film in Pakistan,” the actor tweeted.

In a further show of solidarity, the team has donated INR 50 lacs to the grieving families.

The film was a comedy starring Madhuri Dixit, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey, Esha Gupta, Boman Irani and Anil Kapoor. It was directed by Indra Kumar and was set to release in Pakistan this week. In light of the attacks, there have been bans and boycotts in multiple fields. Bollywood A-listers have also donated heartily to Bharat Ke Veer, an initiative set up to support the Jawans and their families.
