#Airstrike: Bollywood Celebrities Appeal to Pakistan to Release Captured Indian Pilot

From Farhan Akhtar to Arjun Kapoor, several celebs made an emotional appeal for the release of IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman

Bollywood celebrities in unison have requested Pakistan government to facilitate the release of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, the captured Indian pilot who had strayed into their territory post the airstrikes conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Prominent Bollywood handles took to Twitter to express their solidarity with the Indian fighter pilot and send a message across the border that he should be allowed to return home.

Pakistan government, on the other hand, has assured that Abhinandan is being treated fairly.

Here's what Farhan Akhtar said:

Karan Johar:

Swara Bhaskar:

Sushmita Sen:

Diljith Dosanj:

Arjun Kapoor:

Anupam Kher:

With so many Bollywood celebrities and Indian icons asking for Abhinandan's safe return, the hashtag #BringBackAbhinandan trended worldwide the whole day.

Here's hoping Abhinandan will be brought back safely to India and Pakistan will heed to the country’s request.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated after the February 14 attack in Pulwama when a suicide bomber rammed into a CRPF convoy killing over 40 soldiers. A few days later, India announced that its planes had crossed over the Line of Control (LOC) and destroyed terrorist training camps there. Pakistan then retaliated by shooting down two of India’s planes and capturing a pilot.
