4 Pakistani Shows to Binge Watch

Wondering what to do over the weekend? Here are some Pakistani shows you can binge watch

Pakistani TV shows are full of intensity and also go deep into the complexities of romance and relationships. In the past there have been many shows that have caught the fancy of the masses, and have become cult hit. Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan rose to stardom through their hit tv show, Humsafar, in which Mahira Khan played Khirad, Fawad (playing the character of Asher)’s estranged wife. Here are some more shows you can watch.

1. Sadqay Tumhare

“An arranged engagement between a village girl and her city cousin shows signs of true love but an indiscretion decades ago dooms their romance,” reads the description on Netflix. The Hum Tv show can be streamed online.

The show starred Mahira Khan and Adnan Siddiqui as the romanctic pair while Samiya Mumtaz and Nauman Ijaz play supporting leads. Aired in 2015, Sadqay Tumhare won big at HUM Awards including Viewer’s Choice Award for Best Drama Serial.

​2. Zindagi Gulzar Hai

The show follows the story of Kashaf and Zaroon – from university days to love and marriage. Hailing from middle class, the strong-willed Kashaf meets carefree and wealthy Zaroon when both opt for the same college. But before love can take root between the two, both Kashaf and Zaroon have some growing uo to do.  The Hum Tv production stars Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed as lead characters.

​3. Yaqeen Ka Safar

Written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Shehzad Kashmiri, this play was the tale of many people who go through a journey of faith. Starring Sajal Aly, Ahad Raza Mir, Hira Mani and Farhan Ali Agha, the story also tapped into the themes of social justice, fighting for what’s right and staying your ground despite various obstacles.

​4. Mann Mayal

The show became an instant hit with Hamza Ali Abbasi, Maya Ali, Ayesha Khan and Gohar Rasheed in lead. Written. By Samira Fazal, Man Mayal is a story of Manahil and Salahuddin, played by Hamza and Maya, who fall in love with each other but are prevented from getting married due to difference in their social class. When Salahuddin refused to marry Manahil, she goes on to live in an abusive marriage while he becomes a successful businessman. Salahuddin refuses to marry Manahil. She then lives in an abusive marriage, while Salahuddin succeeds in his ambitions. Fate brings the two together again and rekindles the love.

There are many other shows that you can binge watch as well, including Suno Chanda Season 1 and Suno Chanda Season 2, the hilarious tale of two warring individuals, Arsal and Ajiya, who absolutely hate each other but end up getting married (only in our desi world can this happen!), Aunn Zara, Dillagi and O Rangreza.
