Sonam Kapoor has acquired the rights of two bestsellers novels to make two films. The move has firmly established the fact that Sonam as a filmmaker is more interested in content than commercials. We need more filmmakers like her in Bollywood. The actress is set to acquire the bestseller adaptations, Anuja Chauhan’s Battle For Bittora and Krishna Udayasankar’s Govinda. Aamir Khan is also in the talks to do a film on Mahabharata but he lost out the race to Sonam.
Govinda is the first part of the three-part series ‘Aryavarta Chronicles’ which is modern retelling of Mahabharata. The three books in the series are Govinda, Kaurava, and Kurukshetra which collectively make the chronicle. “Both (Battle For Bittora and Govinda) can be made into films, and I’m going to do it.” I don’t know which character I will essay, but it’s Indian mythology, which is spectacular and has a lot of potential," Sonam said on the side-lines of an event.
Also, Sonam has signed ‘The Zoya Factor’ which is also Anuja’s bestseller.
But, before setting foot into filmmaking, the talented Kapoor girl will be next seen in Veere Di Wedding that also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shikha Talsania, Swara Bhaskar and Sumeet Vyas in the lead, produced by her sister Rhea Kapoor.
We can’t wait to see what Sonam has in store for us in 2018!
