Kapil Sharma seems to be going through a rough patch post his fall out with ex fellow comedian, Sunil Grover. Following the infamous fight, Kapil Sharma’s show, experienced a major drop in TRPs and the show’s popularity took a huge beating. From being a show that was normally ranked at first place, it is now one that doesn’t even make it to the top 5 anymore.
Soon after the continuous drop in ratings, rumours surfaced that the channel has given Kapil Sharma a month to set things straight and get the show back to where it used to be. Following that, Mid-Day reported that the show will be given a further extension, all thanks to Salman Khan. Reportedly, since Salman was busy shooting for Tiger Zinda Hai, his telly reality show, Dus Ka Dum, had to be postponed, thus allowing The Kapil Sharma Show to run longer.
Rubbishing all these reports, a source from Sony TV said, “These stories are rubbish. No extension has been given to him. In fact, Kapil’s contract has been renewed for a year. The channel is happy with the TRPs too. Dus Ka Dum is a long way off and Kapil is not going anywhere soon. It is hugely possible that both the shows might run on Sony TV. After all, they will need to strengthen their weekend programming more in the coming months given the stiff competition.”
Commenting on the status of The Kapil Sharma Show, industry analyst, Anil Wanvari said, “Last week’s TRPs went up to nearly four million impressions from 3.4 million the week before. At its peak, the show garnered an average six million impressions. The recent Arjun Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor episode evoked a positive response. We will have to wait and watch for at least a fortnight if the upward trend continues. We can’t write Kapil’s show off just yet.”
Who would have thought that the once highly popular comedian, who even graced the famous Koffee with Karan couch, would land himself in this soup! We’ll only have to wait to see if the show survives or not.
