Ensuring that the Padmavati row won’t end anytime soon, Haryana BJP’s media chief has now announced a Rs 10 crore bounty on the heads of Bhansali and Deepika Padukone.

The controversies surrounding the magnum opus just don’t seem to subside. What started off with sets being vandalised, has now gone to the issuance of death threats, making the situation extra sensitive. Fringe groups state the reason for all this to be distortion of history, by portraying a tarnished image of Rani Padmini aka Deepika’s character. Two days after a Meerut resident from the Kshatriya community announced a prize of Rs 5 crore on the heads of Bhansali and actor Deepika Padukone, Haryana BJP’s Chief Media Coordinator doubled the amount and announced a reward of Rs 10 crore for beheading them. Shocked? We are too!

The chief also warned Ranveer Singh, saying he would ‘break his legs’ if he continued supporting Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the film. He threatened, “Agar tune apne shabd wapas nahin liye to teri taango ko todke tere haath mein de denge (If you don’t take back your words, we will break your legs and put it in your hand.’ The plot of Padmavati is essentially based on the legend that Alauddin Khijli (Ranveer Singh) invades Chittor in order to conquer the kingdom and its queen, Padmini (Deepika Padukone). Citing the story,  fringe groups have objected to a dream sequence between Khilji and Rani Padmini, even though Bhansali has denied any such scene in the film.

The initial release date for the film was set for 1st December, but is now postponed, with the confirmed dates yet to be announced. There is buzz that the film will now clash with Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai on the 21st of December.

We sure do home this unrest settles soon, and everyone remains safe and sound. Watch this space for more updates.
