A Big Hello...
...to all you lovely Masala! readers! For those of you who don’t know me, a quick intro: I’m MissMalini – a social media jedi who eats, breathes and sleeps Bollywood. I spend my days jetting from movie promotions to fashion weeks to the most fabulous page 3 parties around town – rubbing shoulders with the who’s who of B-town and bringing my readers the inside scoop on it all! #LivingTheDream. I’m super excited to be giving Masala! a glimpse into my life every week and look forward to taking you all on the journey that is my life!
I caught up with Sonam Kapoor at the Airbnb event in Delhi this week and, of course, asked her what her favorite Airbnb experience has been. She said that one of her favorite stays was in a three-bedroom house that she completely fell in love with in Los Angeles. (Cue the search to find and stay in the EXACT same house next time you’re in LA, right? Here are a few hints: she said the house in Hancock Park and is owned by “a very sweet couple”. Hope that helps your search!). I also asked her what’s the one thing she feels people need to see when visiting Delhi and she immediately responded with, “Chandni Chowk.” She added that you must take the metro to get there and indulge yourself in all the yummy street food. Her recommendations? The chana kulcha and parantas in the Gali Parathi Wali. We never knew she was such a foodie!
Earlier this week TeamMissMalini caught up with the cast of Phillauri - Anushka Sharma, Suraj Sharma and Mehrene Kaur Pirzada. It was an absolute riot as they spoke about the film, their characters and their journeys. The only person missing from the madness was Diljit Dosanjh but Anushka Sharma made up for that by letting us in on a secret. Did you know that Anushka and Diljit didn't actually talk much during the filming of Phillauri as Diljit's very, very shy? Anushka told us that it was only after the film that the two actually became friends when they bonded on a two hour flight! Who would've thought?! We also had Anushka respond to a few sexist questions and told her that, "we hope you're not the feminist types?". To which she sarcastically said, "No, of course not. I don't give a shit about equality between men and women. What century are we living in?", making everyone in the room burst out with laughter.
RAJAT KAPOOR AND KALKI KOECHLIN
Mantra's super talented cast Rajat Kapoor and Kalki Koechlin visited the MissMalini HQ last week and it was such a blast. The entire office was in awe of these two fabulous performers and Kalki, being amazing as always, indulged us all! They spoke to us about how times have changed since the ‘90s to now. When asked what's the one thing Rajat Kapoor misses from the 90s, he said "nothing". Full steam ahead this one is, isn’t he? The two also told us about how it's disappointing that the bigger films always get most the screens and all the hype, leaving smaller films to often fend for themselves. While they hope this changes in the future, for now they said it's going to be a struggle to get the word out there for their film given all the big releases around the corner. That’s B-town for you now, isn’t it?
