It seems Kiran Rao is going in for a serious image change. The 'Dhobi Ghat' director is all set to walk the ramp for the first time for a fashion week to be held this week. Kiran, who is constantly criticised for her poor fashion sense will walk the ramp for a special collection to be showcased by designer Vikram Phadnis. He has collaborated with an NGO, Swades (headed by Zarine Mehta which has adopted 227 villages in Maharashtra) to come up with a rural-inspired fashion line.
One wonders what got the usually reticent Kiran to agree to sashay down a ramp where some of the biggest fashionistas strut their stuff. A friend tells us, "The organisation focuses on water, sanitation and education and other issues relating to rural empowerment and employment. That's what got her to agree to it. In fact, Kiran is quite excited as she has never walked the ramp before."
Taking things a step further, looks like Kiran's not about to stop here. Rumours are rife that she will make her acting debut in her hubby Aamir's upcoming film 'Peekay' too in a cameo!
