Superstar Rajnikanth's highly ambitious project 'Kochadaiyaan' directed by daughter Soundariya has been creating news right from the day of its announcement.
First it came during the time of Rajni's health scare, then we heard that the movie was to be shot in 3D using the same technology that the makers of the Hollywood blockbuster 'Avatar' used and finally our ears turned sore by the stories of the changes in the star cast.
From Anushka Shetty, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Asin to Vidya Balan it seemed every actress below 35 was being considered for the female lead role in the movie. Finally we hear that the actress who seems to have beaten all the competition is none other than Katrina Kaif.
According to a member of the production team of 'Kochadaiyaan', Katrina was the perfect choice for the role as she is hugely popular in north India while Rajini is an icon in the south. Therefore, the north-south combination, it was felt, would create BO magic. The source also revealed that negotiations with Kat had been carried on for months and that they got the final confirmation from Kat only recently.
When director Soundarya was contacted she confirmed the news that Katrina indeed was approached for the role. Apparently, Katrina is busy at the moment shooting for Salman's 'Ek Tha tiger' which is to release on Eid and also Yash Chopra's untitled film with SRK. Still, the hardworking actress said she would accommodate Rajni's movie in her packed schedule.
'Kochadaiyaan' is an epic love story of a king and has music by AR Rahman.
