Vivek Oberoi, and his journey in Bollywood- is like the recipe for a superstar turned sour. He started off his career, flourishing in films like Company, YRF’s Saathiya and Masti, but soon retracted to a shell- owing to issues in his personal life. He has now surfaced again, with his role in a hit web series, called Inside Edge, and other promising projects in the pipeline.
In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, the actor opened up about what led to his downfall and how he reached a space of no return. As everyone’s aware, Vivek’s fall began with his affair with Aishwarya Rai and everything that followed. In his infamous press conference, the actor revealed shocking details about Salman threatening him over his relationship with the actress. Ever since that incident, it was all downhill for Vivek. Following his feud with Salman in 2003, the actor tried many times to clear the air, but to no avail.
Speaking about how hit films like Krrish 3 also couldn’t get him his superstar status back, he said, “It was like a fatwa issued against me from the powers that be. Even if I gave a hit, work wouldn't follow. Shootout at Lokhandwala became a huge hit but I sat at home for a year after that.”
The actor admitted to how the turmoil in his personal life affected him, saying, “When my personal life got messed up, I couldn't keep my eye on the ball."
Vivek Oberoi now plans to take up the role of producer with films like Company 2, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store with his new avatar.
