‘Indian Cinema Has Lost Its Smile’: Karan Johar on Sridevi

For most people who knew her, the news has yet to sink in that Sridevi is no more. Karan Johar who was seen with the diva at Ras Al Khaimah last week at Mohit Marwah’s wedding, is still in a state of shock. Karan has always said how Sridevi was one of his eternal idols.

The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil filmmaker has written a beautiful Instagram post paying his tribute. ‘I danced to Hawa Hawai when I was in school. I have seen every film of hers multiple times. I met her with shaking hands and feet on the sets of my father’s film GUMRAh. And felt I had arrived when she called me for the first time. Every time I met her I had a star struck moment and a fab boy vibe. I don’t think I can believe it. Perhaps I don’t think I want to believe that she is no more. She is a huge reason I love the movies. I feel like Indian Cinema has just lost its smile. The heavens are fortunate, they just inherited a gift of life. Heartbroken’.

Karan just echoed what millions across the world feel.
