Filmfare Awards for Ranbir and Vidya

The award season is on and last night it was the turn of the 58th Idea Filmfare Awards to honour Bollywood stars. The awards, held at YRF Studios, were hosted by Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan this year and as usual their antics brought the house down.

However, when it came to the awards, it was once again Ranbir Kapoor and Vidya Balan who ended up getting top honours. Ranbir Kapoor won the Best Actor (Male) for his role of a deaf-mute in 'Barfi!' while Vidya won her fourth Filmfare for 'Kahaani'. Interestingly Ranbir did not use mic for his thanksgiving speech. He kept the mic on floor and gave his speech through expressions just like his character.

The Critics Award for Best Actor (Male) was given to Irrfan Khan for his performance in the film 'Paan Singh Tomar'. The Critics Award for Best Actor (Female) went to Richa Chadda for 'Gangs of Wasseypur'.

Music director Pritam won both the Best Background Score and Best Music Director awards for 'Barfi's' score. Anushka Sharma and Annu Kapoor clinched the awards for Best Actors in a Supporting Role (Female and Male) for 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' and 'Vicky Donor'. Ayushmann Khurrana ('Vicky Donor'), Ileana D'cruz ('Barfi!'), and Gauri Shinde ('English Vinglish') won the best Male, Female and Director debuts respectively. Ayushmann also won the best playback singer for 'Pani Da Rang' while the female playback singing award went to Shalmali Kholgade for the song 'Pareshan' in 'Ishaqzaade'.

The awards also paid tribute to the late Yash Chopra with a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award.
