Rajnikanth

Date of Birth: 12th December 1949

Born as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, actor Rajnikanth's rise to superstardom is the stuff of legends. A former bus conductor, Rajnikanth was introduced to films in the South. He began with experimental dark roles, but then acquired a huge fan base through his blockbuster characters. Best known for his quirky on-screen style and one-line dialogues, Rajni, as he is popularly known, delivers only superhits - the latest being Shivaji - The Boss.

His foray into Bollywood wasn't too successful, although he has shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi.

Rajnikanth will now be dubbing for the lead character in an animation film, which is being directed by his younger daughter. He will also be seen with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Robot.

Rajnikanth is married and has two daughters, Aishwarya and Soundarya.
