Date of Birth: 23rd June 1952

A graduate of the National School of Drama, Raj has worked with top banners and independent filmmakers of his time. He is also active in politics.

He married actress Smita Patil despite already being married to Nadira Babbar. He has 3 children. His son Arya and daughter Juhi both made unsuccessful forays into Bollywood. His son Prateek Babbar was born to Smita, who died soon after childbirth.
