Mallika Sherawat was born as Reema Lamba and was a cabin crew member. She has stated that she ran away from a bad marriage and reinvented herself as a sex symbol in the competitive film industry as she had no godfather.

Her films such as Murder have pushed the boundaries of conservative Indian films, but when they achieved box-office success, it made the industry look at her in a different way. Mallika has had a brief appearance in Jackie Chan's The Myth and upstaged Aishwarya Rai with her wardrobe at the Cannes Film Festival.

Mallika is currently single and claims to lead a boring personal life.
