Ashutosh Gowarikar
Date of Birth: 15th February 1968
Ashutosh Gowariker began his film career as an actor in Holi. Roles in TV serials followed.
His first movie as a director was quickly forgotten and though he managed to rope in Aamir Khan for his second project, Baazi, the film also sank.
It was with Lagaan, produced by Aamir Khan, that Ashutosh shot into prominence - nationally and internationally - as the film made it to the final 5 in the Academy Awards (Oscars).
Since Lagaan's success, Ashutosh has worked with Shahrukh Khan in Swades and Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai in Jodhaa Akbar.
