Devdatt Pishorimal Anand, better known as Dev Anand, is a legend in Bollywood. An actor, producer and director, he was considered the embodiment of the suave, urban gentleman. His first colour film Guide, based on R.K. Narayan's novel, was a huge hit and is rated by many as his best work to date. He has acted in about 115 films and his banner Navketan has launched many actresses, most notably Zeenat Aman and Tina Munim.

In September 2007, Dev's autobiography Romancing with Life was released at his birthday party in the presence of the Indian Prime Minister.

He was romantically involved with singer-actress Suraiya and they were paired in 6 films together.

Dev married actress Kalpana Kartik and has one son, Suneil, and a daughter, Devina.
