Date of Birth: 11th December 1925


Originally named Yusuf Khan, the acting thespian was introduced by Devika Rani the actress, who gave him the screen name Dilip Kumar. The actor refused David Lean's offer to play the role of Sherif Ali in the film Lawrence of Arabia.

One of Bollywood's living legends, he earned the title "Tragedy King" after films such as Devdas and Madhumati. Dilip Kumar has been awarded the highest cinema award in India and also the highest civilian award from Pakistan.

Dilip is married to former actress Saira Banu.
