Date of Birth: 7th November 1954

Kamal Haasan joined cinema at the age of 6 as a child artiste and also won a National Award as a 6-year-old. He subsequently began a career as a choreographer and then made a breakthrough as an actor.

Kamal is best known for his role in Mani Ratnam's film Nayagan, which found place in Time magazine's All Time Best 100 films list.

Kamal was first married to danseuse Vani Ganapathy. He then married actress Saarika and has two daughters. His older daughter Shruti is all set to enter the industry. Kamal is now divorced.
