Akshaye Khanna debuted in his father Vinod Khanna's production Himalayaputra, which fared awfully. However, he proved his acting prowess in Border, where he was part of a multi-cast. Since then, Akshaye has acted in many off-beat roles and has been fairly selective in his choice. Key performances include Dil Chahta Hai, Gandhi My Father and Humraaz.

He has previously dated actress Tara Sharma, and is currently single.
