Prateik Babbar

Date of Birth: 28th November 1986

Prateik Babbar has Bollywood in his blood - with dad Raj Babbar and mom, the late Smita Patil, both having their special place in the industry. Prateik made his movie debut with Aamir Khan's 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' in 2008 and even though he had a small role playing Genelia D'Souza's brother, he made a big impact. The young actor impressed Aamir as well as wife Kiran Rao so much that she signed him on her directorial debut 'Dhobi Ghat'.

Prateik received rave reviews for his role as Munna in 'Dhobi Ghat' which released in 2010. And up for release in 2011 is 'Dum Maro Dum' with Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu.

He's doing well professionally, but Prateik's personal life has leaned towards being turbulent. Tragedy struck early when his mum Smita passed away just a few days after he was born. Prateik grew up with his maternal grandmother as his dad Raj went back to first wife Nadira after Smita Patil's death.

Later, Prateik was also heartbroken after breaking up with girlfriend Hanisha Melwani. She apparently ended the relationship because he was too possessive. He even had a public argument with her but says now that he has moved on.

In 2011, Prateik's half-brother Arya Babbar has hit out at him for dropping the Babbar surname. Arya was also upset by Prateik's statement that he considered Abhishek Bachchan his elder brother. This is because of the long-time strained relationships between the Babbars and Bachchans.
