Health authorities in Dubai, have issued an important warning to travellers, to be aware of the Legionnaires disease after an Irish person contracted it on a recent visit to Dubai, international news reports said.
In case you were unaware, this disease is a type of pneumonia that usually starts with flu-like symptoms, including fever, tiredness, headache, and muscle pains. These are followed by dry cough and breathing difficulties. People usually get infected by this disease when they inhale tiny droplets of water contaminated with Legionella bacteria. Symptoms of this disease usually start showing within two weeks of contracting it.
Reports suggest that the possibility of contracting this disease is low, however, people aged over 50, smokers and ones with weakened immune systems, have higher chances to be affected.
