The 45-year-old has hit the figure after working in 105 movies since his debut film, 'Saugandh' in 1991. The buzz around Akki's earnings started over the weekend when #Akshay 2000 crore started trending on Twitter.
Over the years Akshay has starred in several blockbuster hits. His latest release 'Special Chabbis' has already crossed Rs 50 crore at the India market alone. Prior to this, he had hits like 'Singh is Kinng', 'Housefull 1 and 2', 'Rowdy Rathore', 'OMG: Oh My God', 'Khiladi 786' among others.
With fans congratulating him from all over the world, Akki himself appeared quite overwhelmed. He wrote on his twitter account: "Honestly blessed to have you all Akkians in my life. Special thanks to my fan clubs who support me so much selflessly time & again. Thank you for the #Akshay2000crore tag only possible coz of you all."
However, does this mean that Akshay is bigger than the three reigning Khans of Bollywood – Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman? Trade experts say no. While some opine that Akshay has an advantage over other actors since he does more films than them (sometimes five or six in a year), in Bollywood, a star's value is generally considered only by his last few releases. Akshay is a hugely successful star but in terms of brand value, the Khans have a distinct edge trade experts like Taran Adarsh and Komal Nahta have said in an interview.
Either way, it's time for more celebrations for Akshay Kumar who is currently having a great time at the box office!
