Akshay Kumar is making news for all the right reasons. Padman, his upcoming release (hitting the theatres in the UAE on Thursday, February 8, 2018) has already caught the imagination of viewers with its unique theme and promotional campaign. The film, about social entrepreneur Arunachalam Murugananthan, who made low cost sanitary pads to help women in rural areas create awareness about menstrual hygiene, is seen as this year’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha – an entertainer with a message that strikes a chord with the audience.
While the box office returns of a film like this remains to be seen, Akshay Kumar is certainly going all out to spread the message. He recently collaborated with Aranya Johar, a YouTube sensation to come up with a video on menstruation titled #Bleedingrani for the Bollywood portal www.peepingmoon.com and it is impressive! Kudos to Akshay for taking up a subject that not many are willing to talk about.
