Colors made an offer Zee could not resist

The world satellite rights of “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” have been transferred from Zee TV to Colors.

Zee TV had purchased the rights for Rs.30 million before the release of the film. In fact, it had purchased a package deal of two Aamir Khan productions – “Taare Zameen Par” and “Jaane Tu...” - for Rs.120 million.

Zee was planning a grand premiere of “Jaane Tu…” when it got an offer from Colors to sell the rights to them. They offered a price which was irresistible (reportedly Rs.170 million).

Without second thoughts, the rights were transferred by Zee to Colors.

The interesting fact is that Imran Khan's girlfriend Avantika Malik works for Studio 18 and her mother is on its board of directors. So Studio 18 wants to have the entire collection of Imran's movie.

However, what is even more interesting is the fact that while Zee bought Aamir's movie for Rs.90 million, it sold newcomer Imran's film for Rs. 170 million!
