I will wear a bikini again

Minissha Lamba was recently seen in “Bachna Ae Haseeno” where played the role of a cute young girl while co-stars Bipasha Basu and Deepika Padukone took care of the glamour quotient.

Her next film, however, will see a role reversal. Scheduled to release on October 2, “Kidnap” will showcase Minissha in an ultra glamorous role, for the first time in her career. The actress is not just the solo heroine in the film co-starring Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan, she will also be wearing a bikini for the first time on screen.

Masala.com spoke to the actress about her big film and the big change in her image. Excerpts from the chat:

Minissha, what is your character in Kidnap?

Well, 'Kidnap' revolves around my character Sonia who lives with her divorced mother. Her father does not stay with her so they share a very uneven relationship. They don't even see each other. Then Sonia gets kidnapped and the kidnapper asks her father to show up. It is here that the actual story unfolds.

So the film is centered on you?

I am the female lead.

And what does Imran Khan play?

Oh! You already know that, don't you? He plays the kidnapper.

And also your love interest in the movie?

I am not revealing that. You will have to watch the movie to find that out. But let me tell you, the film is not so predictable.

Hmmm… and so was your bikini wearing decision…

Why? I loved it.

What about the comfort level?

I was absolutely comfortable in the bikini. That is the reason I agreed to wear it.

Will you not mind wearing it again?

Why not yaar! If the script demands it, an actor should be able to put up with anything. The only thing that I was worried about was how my body would look on the screen. But, by god's grace, it has turned out really well.

Ok, who do you like more in a bikini, Bipasha or Kareena?

I think every woman looks her beautiful best in a bikini. Every person has a different body type and way of carrying a particular outfit. So both Bipasha and Kareena look fabulous!

Bachnaa Ae Haseeno was received fairly well by the audiences. Especially your character…

Mahi was a lovable character and I really enjoyed playing it. In fact, the whole film schedule was amazing. We had a lot of fun.

How close is Minissha to Mahi?

No! Mahi was really different, yaar. She was this hopeless romantic whose purpose in life was to find love. Me, I cannot afford that luxury. I need to worry about a lot of other things… my career for one. You don't know how difficult it is to survive in this industry. Mahi didn't care about anything else. She could afford not to.

You too can 'afford' that luxury. After all, you are pretty established now…

Yeah, right! You guys think it is all glamour and glitz and no hassles at all. Trust me, it is a very tough job, being a celebrity. Tough and demanding, both physically and mentally.

You have just worked with the best and the hottest newcomers in the industry – Ranbir and Imran. And your favourite is…

I can't answer that! There is no way I can. I have just worked with both of them and besides, I love them both, very much and equally.

Okay tell us who was more fun on the sets?

You are not getting that out of me. I will still say, both!

So there is something inside you that you are not telling us?

Stop it please! I told you both… both… and both.

How was it working with the two other ladies… anything catty about that?

Nothing. It was pleasant. Disagreements do happen but that doesn't mean that those people are bad. So I always take them in a positive light.

So despite the 'good girl gone bad' image change with Kidnap, Minissha Lamba, the new bikini girl in town, remains as nice as ever…

I remain who I am. There is no image, it is only me. And this was no image makeover, it was my experiment with myself as an actor in this particular film. So I am not making any permanent statement.
