Taekwondo

Akshay Kumar learnt martial arts in Bangkok so he can always pick up the nuances of Taekwondo, the Korean discipline (the martial art recognised at the Olympics). After hosting challenging shows like Seven Deadly Arts on National Geographic and Khatron Ke Khiladi on Colors, we know exactly how well Akki could do if he put his mind to it.

Medal prospect: silver

Beach volley ball

Shilpa Shetty’s not only a yoga expert, she has been a state level volleyball champ too. Since sis Shamita’s played a bit of volleyball in school, they can make a good team. Needless to say they have the perfect bods to pull off this beach game.

Medal prospect: bronze

Fencing

Aishwarya Rai learnt and excelled in the art of fencing while shooting for The Last Legion and Jodhaa Akbar. She has also learnt the energetic Kalaripayattu and that should stand her in good stead while she fences for a top spot!

Medal prospect: gold

Rhythmic Gymnastics

Being the daughter of ace danseuse Daksha Sheth, rhythm runs in Isha Sharvani’s blood. She trains for 10 hours a day and her dance is a combo of gymnastics and rhythm. So, she is perfectly cut out for the rhythmic gymnastics category.

Medal prospect: gold

Hockey

Shah Rukh Khan is not only a hockey coach on screen (Chak De! we mean) he’s played hockey all through school. We needn’t tell you how good he is at the sport. Shah Rukh should get pride of place at our Indian hockey team and bring back the glory Indian hockey once enjoyed.

Medal prospect: silver

Badminton

Deepika Padokone was a state level player till the10th grade and she’s got her dad Prakash Padukone, who has been a world champ, to coach her. So, her chances are very high – definitely.

Medal prospect: gold

Aquatics

Milind Soman might not have made it that big in films, but swimming is something he has excelled in all his life. Even now, wherever he goes, he carries his swimsuit. The one-time national champ can turn into our desi Michael Phelps for the Olympics!

Medal prospect: gold

Athletics & Football

When it came to 100m sprints in school, everyone knew John would get the medal! This all-rounder can also find a place in the football team as he’s been the captain of the Bombay Scottish College team (and has acted in the film Goal too!).

Medal prospect: bronze

Shooting

We know both Salman and Saif Ali Khan have a thing for hunting. All they have to do is channelise their skills correctly. And now they have gold medal winner Abhinav Bindra to help them out. Guys, what better chance to use your talent? Go for it!

Medal prospect: gold
