Spice filled and flavourful rich Indian Cuisine

If you crave Indian cuisine that's authentic and exploding with loads of flavour, then the Masala House at BurJuman's Pavilion Gardens is just the place to go to. The Masala! team decided to head on over to experience award-winning Executive Chef Pulam Singh's classic Awadhi dishes and the famous clay pot biryanis which promise to tantalise your taste buds and how!

The waft of delicate aromas excited us from the very second we walked in. A refreshing round of mango lassi which struck the right balance between sweet and savoury made its way to our table and disappeared almost as soon as it got there. After reading the drool-worthy menu, the team decided to order several
dishes and just share them across the table, this way we would all get to try Chef Pulam Singh's delicacies.

We started with the murgh chat pata salad which was made with tender char grilled chicken, green chilli, onion
and chopped coriander followed by murgh samosa (mince chicken in crispy pastry flavoured with spices) and jhinga kurkuri (tiny spicy deep fried prawns). After a tiny breather, it was time for round two, succulent melt-in-your-mouth kababs. We gorged on classic favourites like murgh malai tikka, reshmi kababs, slow-cooked Lucknowi lamb leg and machli hariyali tikka which more than hit the spot!

We literally had no more room but we couldn't leave without trying the renowned dum pukht biryanis which are cooked in clay pots and sealed air-tight with dough that puffs up as it's cooked... simply divine! After much deliberation from the 16 biryanis on offer, we opted for the murgh Hyderabadi biryani and the gosht (mutton) Nalli biryani which were lip-smacking good.

Now, down to serious business, dessert! The Masala! team can never say no to anything sweet and when our waiter recommended the gulab jamun, kulfi falooda, malai firni and a nice hot cup of masala chai, we didn't have the heart to say no and we are glad we didn't; they were worth all the extra calories.

We will definitely be back but our advice to do this fabulous Indian restaurant justice is to wear loose clothing and go with a serious appetite and eat some good ol' fashioned desi khana!
