Cultural extravaganza on June 12 and 13 to bring the dance community together
A two-day cultural extravaganza is being organised to present the best of Dubai's dance talent. The event will take place on Thursday, June 12 and Friday, June 13, 2008, with a musical performance being held at the Dubai Community Theatre and Art Centre (DUCTAC), the Mall of the Emirates.
The first-ever Dubai Dance Festival, entitled Dubai Dance Festival 2008 (DDF) will bring locally based talent to portray a one-of-a-kind eclectic mix of dance through a breathtaking musical called T.H.E. AGENCY, an acronym for Top Hat Entertainment (T.H.E.) Agency.
The performance is based upon the story of an Entertainment Agency; wherein the routine and day-to-day running of ‘The Agency' comes alive to give the audience a flavour of the mishaps, the drama, the thrills and the buzz of the company; whilst also proudly introducing the various talents and acts it has on its books - Hip Hop, Salsa, Tango, Tap Dance, Belly Dancing, African Rumba, Reggaetton to name a few.
‘The Agency' creative team comprises Ahmed Abdulla, the producer and organiser, Hilda Haghighi, as script writer and director, and Eric Lalta as technical director.
The Dubai talent who will perform on the evening of Thursday, June 12 are the famous Columbian dance team, the BNF Group who are also the current Dubai Salsa Champions; James and Alex, originally from the UK and Belgium, presently teaching in Dubai at the ‘Zinc' nightclub of the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road; the Piso Caliente Artistic Group, The Dance Team of the Apartment Lounge and Club (Jumeirah Beach Hotel), the Savage Garden Dancers (Capitol Hotel), RIDDIM of the Talent Station and Dubai Drums.
Other performing teams included in the Dubai talent pool are Tango Sentiment, Familia de la Salsa (Dubai), Roger's Dance Team, The Abu Dhabi Salsa Group, Nadia and Frazier, Kelly & Paula, Marcela & Javier (Colombia), Linda & Nikos, Gold T and Cesar and Elizabeth (Colombia).
