(Ex)tremely Friendly!

Last week Bipasha Basu treated her ex boyfriend Dino Morea to her movie Raaz 3. Incidentally, Bips and Dino had starred in the first Raaz almost a decade ago and perhaps they were just reliving old memories by watching the film. Dino, in fact, seemed to be very happy for Bips and he told the media that she was sure to win “awards for it”. Well, that seems a bit far-fetched but it was cute to see them bond so well.

Dino and Bipasha, who were in a strong relationship when Raaz was being made, split soon after its release. She moved on to John Abraham while he was linked with Lara Dutta and Nandita Mahtani. However, over the years, they remained friends and reportedly Bips would use Dino’s shoulders to cry on when she and John had a fight. While a reunion seems impossible, their friendship is as solid as ever.
Indeed, being friends with your ex seems to be the new mantra for stars who are going out of the way to show all’s well between them and their former partners. Here are a few of B’wood’s friendly exes.

It takes a long time for Salman to be friendly with his ex. Sangeeta Bijlani reconnected with him only after her marriage to Azharuddin ran into trouble while Somy Ali was out of his life for a very long time. Ash doesn’t even acknowledge him. So just how does Kat manage to be his friend despite her ‘sins’ – acting with his rivals, paying more attention to her career and getting involved with Ranbir? There is little chance of them getting back but for now they seem to have established a great comfort level.


Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta

Were married for: 13 years.

Current scenario: Bonded at an art exhibition and other events.

Chances of reuniting: Zero.
Aamir and Reena had a very bitter break-up almost a decade ago and Aamir married Kiran Rao a few years after their divorce. However, time seems to have healed all wounds and now the three – Aamir, his current wife Kiran and ex wife Reena – share a warm, healthy friendship. Aamir and Reena are both involved in their children Ira and Junaid’s life while Kiran shares a cool relationship with the kids as well.


Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor

One year.

Current scenario: Just acted in the flop Teri Meri Kahaani.

Chances of reuniting: Pretty low.
They had a volatile on-off relationship which seems to have settled on a friendly note now. During the shoot of Teri Meri Kahaani, their camaraderie was much talked about. We even saw how comfortable they were with each other when they were in Dubai for the film’s premiere. Usually a hit film makes a huge difference to the equation between its lead pair but Teri Meri… tanked miserably so we are unlikely to see them together on screen again. Moreover, PC has moved on to bigger and better films, men and music!


Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone

Current Scenario: Working in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Chances of reuniting: Very high.
We must hand it over to Deepy. Despite lambasting Ranbir in print after their split, she managed to walk into his life and his film. Ranbir too must be given the title of the ‘most chilled out boyfriend’ in the world. He has forgiven her outburst and has been seen posing with her during promotional events. So far, they haven’t rekindled their romance but you never know what will happen by the time the shoot is over!
