Amitabh Bachchan to play a Pakistani?
Oscar winner Resul Pookutty has offered the legend an exciting new role
In his long and illustrious career, Amitabh Bachchan has played every role possible. But looks like even he was not prepared for what Resul Pookutty had to offer him! The Oscar award winning sound designer plans to direct a film and he wants Bachchan to play a Pakistani in it! Resul’s friend, Amitabh Singh has penned the script after being inspired by a news report on television. Resul loved the script a lot and the more he read it, the more he was convinced that none other than Amitabh Bachchan would fit the role to perfection. So Resul approached Bachchan who took a while to read the script as it was a ‘different’ kind of role for him. The buzz is that Big B has decided to face the challenge and has verbally said yes to Pookutty.
Pookutty, who rose to fame, after he won an Oscar for sound designing for Slumdog Millionaire, has been contemplating direction for a while now. If sources are to be believed, the film is not at all political; it is a more humane subject and is bound to be liked by everyone. What’s more, Resul’s close friend, AR Rahman has already given the consent to direct music for the film.
