Shashi Tharoor’s Bollywood dreams

Isn’t it strange while some stars struggle to get a decent role in Bollywood, offers have been pouring in for someone with no connection to this industry – Member of Parliament and former UN diplomat Shashi Tharoor!

The good looking 56-year-old politician was recently offered a role in a Bollywood film made by a big banner and currently under production! The role in question wasn’t very big on screen space but good enough to get him noticed. Unfortunately, all those vying to see Shashi make his big screen debut are in for a big disappointment as he turned down the offer! The UN diplomat has also had Malayalam bigwigs wooing him with offers. Some even want him to play a cameo in their films as a top ranking minister but he has said no to all of them!

Not many know that Shashi was once heavily into theatre bagging several awards however he didn’t want to take the plunge into Bollywood. The MP finds it quite amusing that despite his age, he’s getting these offers. His reasons for not accepting: “Given our wonderful media where anything you do is liable to be misrepresented, I simply want to focus on being an effective MP and a serious voice in our national discussions.”

He’s obviously not ready for another round of unwanted publicity after he tied the knot with Sunanda Pushkar (his third marriage)!
