Arjun takes on Amitabh Bachchan

‘Ishaqzaade’ set him on the path to stardom but Arjun Kapoor’s next is a tall order in the form of Aurangzeb! The film is apparently being adapted from the unforgettable Amitabh starrrer Trishul. And guess what? Arjun plays a double role in the film – he takes on Amitabh and Shashi Kapoor’s characters simultaneously! The film is due to go on floors next month.

In fact, YRF seems mighty pleased with Arjun so much so that the supporting cast is impressive too. Jackie Shroff steps into Sanjeev Kumar's original shoes of Trishul, to play a powerful tycoon. And it is rumoured that YRF are now in a dilemma over Waheeda Rehman’s original pivotal role in Trishul. A source reveals, “It would have to be someone as volatile as Shabana Azmi but also someone who can portray ages 30 to 60 onscreen,” says a source.

Well we recently heard of Amrita Singh doing a look test for Aurangzeb – so could this be the actress they’re looking at?

The film is scheduled to be shot in and around Delhi and set at the Gurgaon business centre. The source adds, “Recent YRF hits (‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, ‘Band Bajaa Baaraat’, ‘Ishaqzaade’) have all been shot in North India which they consider lucky for their films.”
