The actor is afraid his film will turn controversial!
Shirish Kunder’s excitement for his upcoming release Joker has quite fizzled out, thanks to his lead actor Akshay Kumar! Akki noticed that portions of the film need to be re-dubbed to avoid unwanted controversy.
It was while watching the final cut that Akshay realised that even though this film is fictional and based in imaginary place called Paglapur, his character in the film complains about the government paying least amount of attention to this place which is a disputed piece of land between Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Worse still, this dialogue is said twice!
Knowing how reactions from certain sections of society can bring trouble for the film, Akki took a leaf out of Aamir Khan’s book! (Aamir had used imaginary names in his film 'Peepli Live'.) He decided to get Shirish to change the state names to Mukhya Pradesh (Madhya Pradesh), Uttam Pradesh (Uttar Pradesh) and Prajasthan (Rajasthan). Sadly for Shirish, he had to do away with this realistic approach to filmmaking even though insiders believe he was a bit hesitant to do so. Luckily, Akki’s editing skills came to the rescue!
While Sonakshi Sinha and Chitrangda Singh are promoting Joker with hideous looking aliens all over town, Akki seems to be doing some damage control. Sources say, “Now that he’s back in the game with so much riding on him, he can’t afford to have another 'Tees Maar Khan'.”
