We quiz the actress on her plans to tie the knot with the cricketer

Geeta Basra’s life has been deluged with plentiful rumours, quite a few of which have to do with her alleged romance with cricketer Harbhajan Singh. People have even gone out and named a wedding date much to Geeta’s discontent. While she has maintained that she is close to the cricketer, there is no marriage on the cards, she says. The poor gal has gone hoarse with these denials. Well, here’s hoping she braces herself for many more such rumours to plague her through the course of her career – after all, that is what showbiz is all about!

What’s the most exciting thing in your life right now?

I am very happy and content with life and have amazing friends and a great family. I feel truly blessed because money can’t buy everything and am very grateful for it all.

Why do you think people are so fascinated with seeing Bollywood actresses getting married? Do you see yourself tying the knot soon?

Whenever actors and actresses are seen with someone, they are automatically thought to be either involved or married. It is not right that the media goes ahead and makes these allegations without clarifying the facts. In terms of my marriage, God will know when the time is right for me to get hitched. According to the media, I have already been married six times! That is enough for the time being; when it actually happens I hope I can enjoy it.

Earlier, marriage was considered career suicide; do you think that’s changed?

Of course, the situation has totally changed these days; marriage is not considered career suicide anymore. In reality, the scenario has transformed for the better. Married women still have flourishing careers whereas 10 years ago it was considered taboo for actresses to continue to act post tying the knot. How would you describe your relationship with Harbhajan Singh? I have never denied that Harbhajan and I are good friends. He is a great individual.

Bigger and bolder seems to be the flavour of Bollywood this season; would you take on a racy role?

My character, Roma Kapoor, in The Train (with Emraan Hashmi,) was a very bold lady. I am open to experimenting with different kinds of roles. It’s best to keep trying new things as an actress.

What movie have you seen recently and what did you like most about it?
I really enjoyed watching Madagascar 3D; I love animated movies and find them very fun to watch. Even if they have a bit of drama, they don’t give you teary eyes or a clogged nose. They can be extremely entertaining which is what makes them fun.

Which is your favourite vacation spot and why?
It has to be Dubai. After my hometown, UK, Dubai is the best place to visit, relax and shop till you drop! It has everything that would keep you engaged for days and it’s truly very cosmopolitan, colourful and vibrant.
