Imtiaz Ali divorces wife

There’s no doubting director Imtiaz Ali’s screen capability. Read: ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Rockstar’ and now as the writer of ‘Cocktail’. But apparently the maker of such memorable love stories isn’t very lucky in his personal life.

The buzz is that Imtiaz and wife Preety have been separated for the past year now and that their divorce has also come through. But both spouses have maintained a discreet silence on this since they don’t want their 11-year-old daughter Ida to be affected by adverse publicity. Meanwhile things have been heating up between Imtiaz and Pakistani model/actress Iman Ali. The two have apparently been seeing each other for a while, ever since they got close on the sets of ‘Bol’, in which she starred. (Iman earlier debuted in ‘Khuda Kay Liye’.) Imtiaz and Iman were introduced by mutual Bollywood friends last year.

Few people in the industry know of their relationship but they couldn’t quite hide some public appearances. A day before the release of ‘Rockstar’, they visited the Nizamuddin dargah in Delhi and put in another appearance there in April this year.

Meanwhile Preety has quietly moved on. She earlier worked as executive producer on several films and is looking to direct a film. The buzz is that she’s already been lapped up by a top production house.
