The film titled ‘Gippy’ will mark his foray into this genre
Apart from recent films like ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’ and ‘Chillar Party’, very few films have been made in Bollywood catering to kids. Now Karan Johar is all set to make Dharma Production's first ever kids film titled ‘Gippy’.
‘Gippy’, is being directed by debutante director Sonam Nair who has earlier assisted Ayan Mukerji on ‘Wake Up Sid’. The film focuses on the story about a 13 year old girl. The makers, say sources, underwent extensive auditions to finalise the girl in the film. Since then, Delhi-based 13-year-old Riya Vij, has been roped in to play the title role in the film.
Reportedly, a major portion of the film has already been shot in a school in Shimla while currently the film is being shot in Mumbai. Being developed on a small budget as compared to most Dharma films, ‘Gippy’ will wrap up shooting within the next ten days.
